  Bejuco o arbusto leñoso trepador que enreda sobre otras plantas extendiéndose 12 pies. Posee tallo delgado ramificado cobrizo con lenícelos blancos, hojas compuestas alternas, flores alargadas rojas en racimos axilares y frutos como legumbres. Varias estructuras de esta planta son pubescentes. Crece silvestre en pastizales, bosques secundarios y sitios húmedos en elevaciones bajas y medias al oeste de Puerto Rico. Está distribuido en Cuba, La Española, América Central y del Sur. Reed or climbing ligneous shrub that entangles on other plants extending 12 feet. It has a thin grafted copper stem with white lenticels, alternating compound leaves, extended red flowers in axial mallets, and vegetable like fruits. Several structures are pubescent. It grows wild in thickets, secondary forests, and humid areas at low and medium elevations to the West of Puerto Rico. It is distributed in Cuba, Hispaniola, and Central and South of America.
