  Planta de tallos abultados que alcanza 4 pies de alto. Se distingue por follaje bien verde, flores blancas fragantes y rizomas carnosos prominentes que forman una macolla. Escapado de cultivo crece silvestre en regiones húmedas, riberas de ríos, arroyos y cafetales de Puerto Rico. Nativo del sur de Asia se ha naturalizado en las Antillas. Plant of bulky stems that reaches 4 feet of height. It is distinguished by the intense green foliage, fragrant white flowers, and fleshy prominent rhizomes that form one macula. Outside of cultivation, it grows wild in the humid regions, shores of rivers, streams, and coffee plantations of Puerto Rico. Native of the South of Asia, it has become naturalized in the Antilles.
