  Arbusto siempre verde de 20 pies de alto y 4 pulgadas de diámetro en el tronco. Se distingue por las flores grandes con corolas en tubos estrechos y lóbulos bien estrechos que cambian de color desde blanco a rosado hasta rojo oscuro y semillas en cápsulas. Es un árbol raro de los bosques de la baja Cordillera Central en el centro y oeste de Puerto Rico. Está distribuido en Cuba y La Española. Evergreen shrub of 20 feet of height and 4 inches of diameter in the trunk. It is characterized by the large flowers, corolla in a narrow tube and lobes that change color from white to pink to dark red, and seeds in capsules. It is a rare tree, of forests at the low Central Mountain range in the center and the West of Puerto Rico. It is distributed in Cuba and Hispaniola.
