  Enredadera de hojas trilobuladas serradas, flores blancas y púrpuras y frutos ovalados de color morado o amarillo. Las ramitas jóvenes e inflorescencia han servido para aliviar el dolor en casos de neuralgias e insomnio. Ha sido útil también para el control de diarreas, espasmos y condiciones de las vías urinarias. Las semillas tienen propiedades antihelmínticas. El jugo que se obtiene de la parcha es muy nutritivo y útil en la confección de varias recetas de cocina. Se cultiva en huertos caseros y comerciales. Crece en cercas, malezas y bosques abiertos de la Isla. Nativa de Brasil se ha distribuido por la América Tropical. Twirling reed of sawed tri lobed leaves, white and purple flowers, and a purple or yellow oval fruit. The young small branches and the inflorescence have been used to alleviate the pain of neuralgias and insomnia. It has also been useful for the control of diarrheas, spasms, and ailments of the urinary tract. The seeds have properties to combat parasites . The juice is very nutritious and useful in the preparation of several culinary recipes. It is cultivated in orchards, home and commercial. It grows on fences, weeds, and opened forests of the Island. Native of Brazil, it has been distributed by Tropical America.
