  Orquídea terrestre o epífita de tallos como juncos y flores de color morado rojizo producidas en mazos terminales. La planta florece durante todo el año. Crece silvestre en regiones húmedas de la Cordillera Central, pastizales montañosos y orillas de carreteras de las zonas altas de Puerto Rico. Está distribuida en las Indias Occidentales y trópicos de América del Sur. Terrestrial or epiphytic orchid of stems as reeds and flowers of reddish mulberry color produced in terminal mallets. It blooms throughout the year. It grows wild in humid regions of the Central mountain range, in the mountainous thickets and along borders of highways at the high zones of Puerto Rico. It is distributed in the West Indies and in the Tropics of South America.
