  Árbol siempre verde de 25 pies de altura y 5 pulgadas de diámetro en el tronco. Se distingue por las ramitas vellosas de 4 ángulos, hojas opuestas redondeadas en el ápice con el envés velloso, ramos erectos estrechos vistosos de flores con corolas tubulares de color purpúreo y frutos redondos vellosos. Esta planta rara que podría tener uso como ornamental es endémica de los bosques calizos húmedos y la Cordillera Central en Puerto Rico. Es una especie en peligro de extinción. Evergreen tree of 25 feet of height and 5 inches of diameter in the trunk. It is distinguished by the small villous branches of four angles, round opposed leaves in the apex with villous reverse side, attractive straight thin flowers with tubular corollas of purple color, and villous round fruits. The plant that could have ornamental use as it is endemic and rare of the humid calcareous forests and the Central Mountain range in Puerto Rico. It is an endangered species.
