  Árbol pequeño siempre verde de 10 a 20 pies de altura y 4 pulgadas de diámetro en el tronco. Se distingue por tener racimo floral erecto ramificado, flores verdosas y frutos negros. La madera ha sido útil para postes. Esta especie predomina en los bosques de la zona caliza húmeda y seca a elevaciones bajas y medias en Puerto Rico. Está distribuido en las Bahamas, Islas Vírgenes, Antillas Menores y La Española. Small evergreen tree of 10 to 20 feet of height and 4 inches of diameter in the trunk. It is characterized to have straight grafted floral racemes with greenish flowers and black fruits. The wood has been used for posts. This species predominates in the forests of the humid and dry calcareous zone at low and medium elevations of Puerto Rico. It is distributed in the Virgin Bahamas, Hispaniola, Islands, and the Lesser Antilles.
