  Bud of Quercus rubra based on S. A. Mori & M. Rothman 27800 from the Westchester Wilderness Walk/Zofnass Family Preserve, Westchester County, New York. The lower bud scales are glabrous while the upper ones seem to be fringed by trichomes.
