  Previous year's stem of Ostrya virginiana based on S. A. Mori & M. Rothman 27949 from the Westchester Wilderness Walk/Zofnass Family Preserve, Westchester Co., New York. The stem is reddish-brown with very few lenticels. The cut stem is the current year's growth which is green.
