    Species Description - Much like no. 7 [Phlox paniculata L.]; lvs wider and usually hirsutulous above; infl and cal conspicuously glandular-hairy; cor red-purple, 1.5–2 cm wide, its tube glabrous; anthers usually included; 2n=14. Woods; s. Ind. to Mo., s. to w. N.C. and Ala. June–Sept.
