    Species Description - Foliage blackening in drying; lfls oblong-ovate, 2–6 cm, glabrous to sparsely pubescent, thin, shining above; petiolules glabrous or sometimes sparsely short-hairy; cal-tube eglandular or with a few very small, inconspicuous, slightly elevated punctate glands; upper margin of the pod nearly straight; otherwise much like no. 4 [Amorpha fruticosa L.] Thickets and streambanks; s. Ill. and w. Ky. to Ga., La., and e. Okla. May, June.
