Description - An erect or spreading, cespitose perennial, mostly 10 to 30 cm. tall, rather delicate, with short involute sharp-pointed blades, and loose narrow panicles 10 to 15 cm. long ; glumes somewhat unequal ; lemma about 6 mm. long, the equal awns 10 to 15 mm. long, spirally contorted at base.
