  Description - A stout erect reed usually 2 to 4 meters tall, stoloniferous and rhizomatous, gregarious, sometimes covering large areas ; blades flat, 30 to 40 cm. long, 1 to 3 cm. wide; panicle plumelike, 20 to 40 cm. long.
