    Description - A tall bamboo, the culms as much as 3 cm. thick at base; blades ovate lanceolate, as much as 20 cm. long and 7 cm. wide, the mouth and margin of the sheath long-fimbriate; panicle very open and diffuse, as much as 40 cm. long, the branchlets slender, bearing a single spikelet as much as 2 cm. long; lemmas bearing an awn as much as 4 mm. long.
