    Description - Plan stemless. Leaves many, 24 cm or longer, exceeding the inflorescence, entire; sheaths ovate or suborbicular, pale; blades dimorphic, the outer filiform, very short, soft, persistent, the others deciduous along a straight transverse line, linear, filiform-attenuate, 5“6 mm wide, glabrous above, subdensely vestite beneath with pale linear twisted scales. Scape erect, very slender, flocculose-lepidote, soon glabrous; scape-bracts erect, shorter than the internodes or some about equaling them, ovate or lanceolate, acuminate. Inflorescence simple, laxly few-flowered, soon glabrous. Floral bracts broadly lanceolate, shorter than the pedicels; pedicels ascending, slender, 10-18 mm long. Sepals lanceolate, broadly acute, 14 mm long, ecarinate; petals red, 4 cm long, exceeding the stamens, appendaged; ovary 2/3 superior; ovules caudate.
