    Species Description - Shrub 1-2 m. high, much-branched; stem and branches covered with a light gray bark. Leaves obovate-cuneate, 1-2 cm. long, 0.5-1.2 cm. broad, revolute-margined, sparingly spinulose-dentate in the terminal portion, entire and narrowed below the middle into the petiole, slightly puberulent above in the early stages but soon glabrate and rather conspicuously reticulate-veined, densely and permanently white-tomentose beneath; petioles 3-5 mm. long, tomentose; heads few, about 2 cm. long, sessile, mostly terminating the ultimate branchlets, 5-flowered; involucre narrowly campanulate, 8.5-10 mm. long; bracts of the involucre 5-6-seriate, triangular-ovate to lance-linear, acute, externaly arachnoid-tomentulose, brownish, slightly spreading at maturity; mature achenes 3.5-4 mm. long, pubescent; pappus about 13 nun. in length, persistent, tawny.
