Description - Leaves coarsely and laxly spinose-serrate; scape short, stout; scape-bracts foliaceous, serrate; inflorescence large, many-flowered; floral bracts soon exposing the apices of the ovaries, relatively inconspicuous, weakly serrulate or entire; syncarp well over 15 cm. long at maturity with copious palatable flesh; seeds lacking or very rare.
