Species Description - Plants 0.5-1.2 mm wide, green to deep green. Leaf lobes obliquely to widely spreading, distant to imbricate, ovate to subor- bicular, rarely with a narrow base dilated to distal portions, apex acute to rounded, sometimes cuspidate due to 1-2 cells in a row, ± plane to reflexed, margins (regularly to irregularly) denticulate to dentate, marginal cells projecting outward to upward, each cell tipped by a small papilla, lobe surface smooth. Cells in midlobe isodiametrical, 15-25 µm. Lobules 1/3-1/3 of lobe length, sometimes reduced, surface smooth, keel entire. Underleaves suborbicular, bases cuneate to rounded, distant to contiguous, 1.5-2(3) times stem width, bifid to 1/2 of length, lobes acute. Autoicous. Gynoecia usually with 1-2 innovations, sometimes lacking, innovation often fertile (with androecia). Perianths obcordate, keels with denticulate to laciniate margins, surface smooth, often with small teeth or laciniae on ventral surface. Vegetative reproduction by means of caducous branches and thalloid gemmae.
