Species Description - Plants 1-3 mm wide, glossy brownish green. Leaf lobes subimbricate, irregularly crisped-subconvolute when dry, ovate, apex rounded to obtuse, dorsal margin plane, ventral margin upcurved, margins toothed all around with 7-24 sharp teeth, 1 -3 cells long, those along ventral margin sometimes much larger. Cells in midlobe isodiametrical, ca. 20-35 µm, oriented in longitudinal rows, with small, cordate trigones; oil bodies homogeneous, Massula-type, 6-25 per cell. Lobules trapezoid to short ovate, 1/5—1/3 of lobe length, sometimes reduced, free margin with 2-4 teeth, 1-3 cells long. Underleaves distant to imbricate, (2)3-6 times stem width, margins toothed or ± entire, bases auriculate, folded. Autoicous or dioicous.
