    Species Description - Plants 1.5-2 mm wide, deep green to brown to blackish. Leaf lobes convex when moist, oblong-ovate, 1.2-1.5 times longer than wide, ventral margin usually upcurved, sometimes plane, forming a wide angle or straight line with keel. Cells in midlobe 25-40 x 15-25 µm. Lobules subquadrate to ovate-rectangular, 1/4—1/2 of leaf length, free margin plane or incurved, with 1 short tooth, lobule apex short or long and extending into ventral margin of lobe. Underleaves densely imbricate, subsquarrose, broadly obdeltoid, 3-4 times stem width, apex plane or recurved. Autoicous or dioicous. Androecia on long branches bearing male bracts as well as vegetative leaves. Perianths 3-keeled (1 ventral), additional folds lacking.
