    Species Description - Plants 3-5 mm wide, green to brownish green, usually dichoto- mously branched, branches predominantly terminal. Leaves imbricate, widely spreading, ovate-rectangular, ca. 1.5-2 times longer than wide, ventral bases strongly ampliate, forming a crest, ventral stem surface hardly visible; leaf margins not bordered, leaf apex subtruncate to rounded, ventral margin and apex with 10-25 coarse teeth, 2-7 cells long, 1-5 cells wide at base, longest at apex and on ventral base, the latter with some coarse, triangular teeth, dorsal leaf mar¬gin ± entire; dorsal base long and broadly decurrent, the decurrent part tubular-inflated ("channeled"), ventral base short-decurrent. Cells in midleaf subisodiametrical to somewhat elongate, 1-2 times as long as wide, ca. 20-45 µm long, trigones medium-sized to large and bulging, often elongate and becoming confluent, cuticle smooth. Perianths enveloped by bracts. Vegetative reproduction by small plantlets from leaf surfaces.
