Discussion
We have one species of Phyllodon in the New World; the remainder of the species are Asian and African. The genus is characterized by ligulate leaves, often conspicuously toothed at the apex, with laminal cells strongly prorulose and/or seriately papillose. The alar cells are scarely differentiated.
