    Species Description - Plants medium-sized, in ± dull, whitish green to golden or rarely reddish, often dense, sometimes extensive, ± flat mats; stems creeping, to ca. 3 cm long, irregularly but freely branched, obscurely complanate-foliate. Leaves not or scarcely contorted when dry, erect to erect-spreading, oblong-lanceolate, sometimes broadly so, to ovate-lanceolate, obtuse to acute, the apex often ± cucullate, 0.5-1.0 x 0.23-0.4 mm; margins not bordered, serrulate and with projecting papillae almost throughout, 60-95 x 5-11 µm, plane or often broadly incurved above; costa extending ca. 1/4-1/2 the leaf length; cells linear, pluripapillose, with 3-7 papillae uniseriately arranged over the lumina, the papillae large, branched, often stalked-stellate, firm-walled, becoming shorter and smooth in 1-2 rows toward the insertion. Autoicous or synoicous. Setae curved at apex, tuberculate above apical curve, smooth below, 0.7-2.0 cm long; capsules inclined to horizontal, short-cylindric to conic-cylindric, 0.7-1.0(1.5) mm long.

    In non-flooded moist forests on Pic Matecho, uncommon, ca. 500 m, mostly growing over humus on the forest floor.
