Fig 6D, E.
Schoenus comatus Link, Enum. Hort. Bot. Berol. 1: 41. 1821. Type from Brazil: “Semina et specimina misit Sellow.” (B).
Rhynchospora bromoides Kunth, Enum. Pl. 2: 300. 1837. Type. Brasilia meridionalis, Sellow (B).
[Rhynchospora sylvatica Nees, Linnaea 9: 297. 1834, nomen nudum; FI. Brasil. 2(1): 144. 1842. Syntype. Bahia, Macrae in Herb. Lindley; Rio de Janeiro, Martius 3119 (M); Bahia ad Ferradas et Almada, Martius 3118 (M); Brasilia meridionalis, Sellow (B). Superfluous name published with earlier valid names.]
[Schoenus sylvaticus (Nees) Salzmann ex Schlechtendal, Bot. Zeit. 7: 167. 1849. Combination based on superfluous binomial, Rhynchospora sylvatica.]
Rhynchospora dietrichsenii Böckeler, Cyper. Nov. [= Beitr. Kennt. Cyper.] Heft 2: 25. 1890. Type. Dietrichsen 3399 from Bahia, Brazil (nv).
Type. Brazil, [without details,] Sellow (B) (nv).
Although Martius No. 3119 from Rio de Janeiro, which I examined at Munich herbarium, is without doubt R. comata, the occurrence of this species in Rio de Janeiro is very doubtful. The specimen may possibly have come from either Para or Bahia in reality.
