Distribution and Ecology - BRAZIL. Amapa: near Porto Platon, Pires, Rodrigues, & Irvine 51112. VENEZUELA. Bolivar: Altiplanicie de Nuria, near Hato de Nuria, Steyermark 88363.

Discussion
Decumbent savanna subshrub with a thickened fire-resistant rootstock, commonly bearing the charred bases of older burned-off shoots. The pubescence of stems and leaves is very variable in density and distribution, but without reference to geography. The violet zonation at the base of each leaflet, fugacious in drying, is a good field character. The cited collections are first reports for the territories.
