Distribution and Ecology - VENEZUELA. Bolivar: Altiplanicie de Nuria, Steyermark 88235, 88915.
-
DiscussionWidely distributed in Central America, West Indies, and much of tropical South America but hitherto not known from Guiana. Bentham12 suggests the possibility of C. spectabilis occurring in Guiana but notes the erroneous identification of “most specimens from Guiana” as C. trinitatis Reichb. (= C. spectabilis DC); these were in fact C. lucens Vogel, sect. Chamaesenna. The cited collections, in flower and fruit, are unquestionably C. spectabilis.
