  • Discussion

An attractive arching or somewhat scandent riverine shrub, quite common along the rivers in Suriname, French Guiana, Amapa, and Para. One specimen from Venezuela (Pittier 11239) has been seen as has another from Edo. Maranhao, Brazil (Froes 1814). A number of Peruvian exsiccatae have been erroneously referred to this species (Klug 1029, 2917; Mexia 6501; Schunke 165).

The collections cited above are not first reports, but those from Amapa do indicate the wide occurrence of this species in that territory.
