Species Description - Rhizomes erect or ascending, saxicolous, with long-triangular scales; fronds clustered, to 44 cm long, the stipes to 21 cm long, the rhachises scarcely winged, both black abaxially, brown adaxially, U-shaped and sparingly scaly; blades lanceolate-triangular, to 22.5 cm long, 12 cm wide; pinnae 5—8 pairs, slightly dimidiate, irregularly quadrangular, serrate to laciniate, their upper bases straight for 0.5 -1 cm and parallel or at an angle (to 30°) to the rhachises.
Distribution and Ecology - General distribution. Cuba, Jamaica, and Hispaniola; Venezuela to Bolivia and Brazil. In Venezuela known only from Aragua and the Distrito Federal.
