Hitchcock 17569; Mazaruni Station, bank of ditch in open boggy savanna, "Tall, erect, Fl. stem lateral, separate from leaves. Sep. greenish-yellow. Upper pet. greenish-pink. Labellum and rostellum pinkish-chocolate. Bag of labellum greenish-pink," August 27, 1937, N. Y. Sandwith 1223. A very widespread species extending from Florida (U.S.A.) and the West Indies (type of Limodorum altum), through Middle America to most of northern South America, including PERU and BRAZIL. The type of Dendrobium longifolium H.B.K. was from COLOMBIA.
