    Species Description - Trees or shrubs will alternate, simple coriaceous to rigid, glabrous leaves. Branches of the broadly paniculate inflorescence drying red-brown, incrassate, the epidermis splitting repeatedly transversely. Flowers pentamerous, the calyx cupular, very shortly lobed; petals free, valvate, the apices inflexed. Ovary 5-locular (or sometimes some locules abortive), each locule with 2 superposed ovules. Fruits drupaceous, 2-seeded.
