    Species Description - This monotypic genus has 5-6-merous, hermaphroditic flowers with included stamens, and the corolla is about halfway parted. The fruits were not known heretofore; they are as follows: Fructus globosi 4 mm diam, stylo vetusto coronati, glandulares, rubri.

  • Distribution

    This small shrub was known only from the type collection until recently. It is commonly found in the cloud forest at altitudes of 1500-2200 m; I have collected it in different places in the Cordillera Central in the Dominican Republic: Cuatro Alas, La Culata, Constanza, alt 1600 m, Alain Liogier 16100; Cienaga de la Culata, Constanza, alt 1600-1700 m, Alain Liogier 13022, 13040; La Nevera, Valle Nuevo, alt 2100 m, Alain Liogier 15494, 15498; Marcano & Jimenez 5345.
