  Genus Description - The present treatment encompasses the known species, which fall into two main categories, here interpreted as sections of the genus. Within these two principal sections the taxa may be grouped according to the absence or presence of hairs at the orifice of the corolla-tube, number of calycine squamellae in the sinuses of the calyx-lobes, and type of inflorescence.
