Discussion
Type. “The Suriname plant of (Hostmann n. 1261) referred by Steudel to G. guianensis appears to be a distinct species (G. hostmanni) (Bentham). Not seen.
Only female flower and fruit are known. Differs from G guianensis by a distinctly cordate leaf and nearly globose, non-alate capsule; also “shorter petioles, more shining leaves, less pointed and more cordate at the base” (Bentham).
