Species Description - Small, dark-green or yellowish plants. Stems creeping, 1-pinnate; branches unequal; paraphyllia relatively few, on the stems, mostly linear, unbranched, and consisting of about 2 cells or occasionally as many as 6. Stem leaves erect-incurved when dry, wide-spreading when moist, 0.3-0.6 mm long, deltoid-ovate, slenderly acuminate, not plicate; margins entire, revolute in the lower 1/2 or more; costa ending near the base ofthe acumen; cells irregularly hexagonal, somewhat bulging, very minutely 1-3-papillose on both surfaces. Branch leaves incurved-catenulate or inrolled when dry, wide-spreading and ± flattened in 2 rows when moist, 0.4-0.5 mm long (often longer than the stem leaves), somewhat asymmetric, oblong-ovate, bluntly acute or obtuse; margins ± reflexed on 1 side near the base; costa about 5/6 the leaf length; upper cells rounded-hexagonal, thin-walled, 9-10 µm, very minutely papillose, the apical cells tmncate and pluripapillose. Autoicous. Perichaetial leaves up to 1.4 mm long, entire or nearly so. Setae 8-14 mm long, slender, flexuose, red-yellow, rough throughout; capsules 1-1.2 mm long, oblong-cylindric, asymmetric, pendulous; operculum slenderly long-rostrate; cilia of endostome single or paired (with 1 member ofthe pair usually rudimentary). Spores 9-11 µm, very finely papillose or nearly smooth.

The plants are loosely once-pinnate, and the branch leaves are scarcely crowded, strongly incurved when dry, and blunt at the apex. The leaf cells are very inconspicuously 1-3-papillose on both surfaces. The perichaetial leaves are essentially entire and the setae rough.
