Species Description - Plants slender, rather shiny, pale- to brownish-green. Stems irregularly pinnate, about 2 mm wide (with leaves). Leaves loosely spreading or sometimes slightly falcate at the tips when dry, about 1 mm long, broadly lanceolate, rather broadly long-acuminate; margins serrate above, with teeth simple or occasionally bifid; costae slender, not or slightly divergent, ending 2/3 up the leaf, serrulate at back; upper cells rhomboidal, 8-10:1, smooth; basal cells 3-6:1. Polygamous. Setae 6-12 mm long, reddish-orange, smooth; capsules about 1 mm long. Calyptrae smooth or very slightly scabrous above.

The lance-acuminate leaves are spreading and not or only slightly falcate at the tips when dry. The costa is serrate at back and the cells smooth.

Distribution
On soil and logs in wet forests, up to about 1800 m alt.; Puebla and Veracruz.—Mexico; Cocos Island; Louisiana and Mississippi.
