Species Description - Plants glossy, pale-green or yellowish. Stems ± pinnately branched, up to 12 cm long and (with leaves) 3 mm wide. Leaves erect-spreading and complanate, 1.5-2 mm long, concave, oblong-lanceolate to ovate, bluntly acute; margins serrulate to serrate in the upper half; upper cells linear, smooth, pellucid. Dioicous. Setae 20-35 mm long, smooth. Spores ca. 10 µm.

On logs and other moist substrates at moderate altitudes; Jalisco, Puebla,Veracruz.—Mexico; Guatemala and Costa Rica; northern South America; Lesser Antilles.
