Genus Description - Medium-sized plants in flat, soft, shiny, whitish-green to pale-yellowish mats. Stems fleshy, with large cortical cells, prostrate, sparsely branched. Leaves complanate-spreading, scarcely altered on drying, somewhat asymmetric, oblong-ovate to elliptic, rounded-obtuse or blunt to acute, somewhat decurrent, plane and entire at the margins, ecostate; cells large, lax, thin-walled, smooth and pellucid, broadly oblong-hexagonal or oblong-rhomboidal, slightly narrower in a single marginal row but not forming a distinct border. Autoicous. Setae orange-red, elongate, stout, flexuose-curved, smooth; capsules horizontal to pendent, oblong-cylindric, short-necked; operculum rostrate; exothecial cells collenchymatous; exostome teeth dark-red and cross-striolate below, pale and papillose above, bordered and trabeculate, not furrowed; endostome pale, finely papillose, with a high basal membrane, keeled and narrowly perforate segments, and no ciha. Spores small, spherical. Calyptrae short, slightly lobed, smooth, naked.
