Species Description - Plants shiny, yellow, up to 13 mm high, often bearing axillary clusters of hyaline, spindle-shaped gemmae of 3-4 cells. Leaves erect-spreading, very crisped and twisted when dry, often curved when moist, keeled about 3/4 the length and sometimes nearly to the apex, 2-3 mm long, oblong-lanceolate or oblong-ligulate, narrowly and sharply acuminate; margins plane or 1 broadly reflexed, entire or occasionally serrulate at the apex, bordered by about 10-11 rows of linear cells at base, 6-7 at midleaf, and 3 at the apex; upper cells hexagonal to oblong-rhomboidal, those at base quadrate or hexagonal. Autoicous. Setae up to 8 mm long, thick, reddish, rough above; capsules oblong-cylindric. Spores 22-25 µm, minutely roughened.
