    Species Description - Perennials, extensively sprawling, creeping, and rooting at nodes; erect portion of culms 15-100 cm tall. Leaves variable; blade 5-25 X 1-1.7 cm, linear-lanceolate to lanceolate, truncate, cordate or subcordate at base. Inflorescences 5-25 cm long, narrowly pyramidal, with 20-75 racemelike, more or less pilose branches. Spikelets 1.3-1.8 mm long, lanceolate to less commonly broadly elliptical, acute; upper floret 1-1.5 mm long.

    Distribution and Ecology - Fl (year round); common, in disturbed areas.
