Species Description - Caespitose perennials 50-75 cm tall, the roots often with tuberous thickenings. Leaves forming loose complements of 4-6; ligules 4-8 mm long; pseudopetioles 2-4 mm long; blade 10—13 X 3-4.2 cm, elliptic. Terminal inflorescence 5— 8 cm long, slightly open, bearing staminate spikelets only; axillary inflorescences 3-5 cm long, contracted, often several produced at each node, each bearing 2-4 pistillate spikelets. Pistillate spikelets 15-22 mm long, the floret 7.5—9 mm long. Staminate spikelets 5-9 mm long. Fr (Jan); forest understory, summit of Mont Galbao.
