Species Description - Plants pale-green to yellow-brown or black. Secondary stems up to 40 cm long. Stem leaves 1.2-3 x 0.6-1.2 mm long, oblong from a cordate base, abruptly subulate, ending in a crisped hair-point; margins serrulate above; apical cells 10-42 x 1-2.5 µm; median cells, 16-27 x 1-2.5 µm; basal cells 6-14 x 1.5-5.5 µm. Branches tumid, up to 10 cm long. Branch leaves 1.5-3 x 0.5-1 mm; apical cells 7-34 x 1-2.5 µm; median cells 15-30 x 1-1.5 µm; basal cells 5-14 x 1.5-5.5 µm; alar cells thin-walled, bulging, quadrate to rectangular. Capsules immersed; exostome lightly papillose. Calyptrae densely hairy.
