    Species Description - Caespitose epiphytes with erect, strongly compressed stems to 70 cm. Leaves many, lanceolate to oblanceolate, acute, green, variably suffused with red, graduating in size, to 15 X 4 cm. Inflorescences terminal panicles of subumbellate branches produced sequentially. Flowers small, fleshy, greenish-brown suffused with red; sepals oblanceolate-oblong, acute, the lateral sepals oblique, 6.5 X 3 mm; petals linear-narrowly oblanceolate, obtuse, 6 X 0.8 mm; lip 3-lobed, with 3-lobulate midlobe, concave, 5 X 5 mm, the lateral lobes transversely elliptic, the midlobe of 3 parallel lobules. Fl (Aug, Oct). Because of a complex nomenclatural problem, this plant has also been called E. secundum Jacquin.
