Genus Description - Epiphytes with subglobose to elongate-pyriform, frequently angulate pseudobulbs often widely spaced on creeping rhizome. Leaves 1 or 2 per pseudobulb, coriaceous. Inflorescences erect to arching racemes, spikes or umbels from bases of pseudobulbs.Flowers few to many, usually inconspicuous, bracteate, shortly pedicellate to sessile; sepals subsimilar, free or with lateral sepals fused and adnate to prominent column foot; petals often much smaller than lateral sepals, with entire, ciliate or fimbriate margins; lip simple or 3-lobed, fleshy, arcuate-recurved, movably articulate to column foot; column short, erect, with pair of wings apically, footed; pollinia 4 in 2 pairs, waxy.
