    Species Description - Herbs, 1.5-3 m tall; ligule 5-15 mm long. Leaves narrowly elliptic to narrowly obovate, 18-31 X 7.5-9 cm, abaxial surface subglabrous, midrib on adaxial side densely hairy. Inflorescences terminating leafy stems, ovoid to narrowly ellipsoid to cylindric, 3.5-7 X 3-3.5 cm, to 12 X 5 cm in fruit; bracts orange-red to red with yellow callus, 20-25 X 20-30 mm. Flowers opening away from inflorescence axis; calyx reddish, 3-7 mm long; corolla orange, 35-40 mm long; labellum tubular, yellow, 20-30 X 15-20 mm.

    Distribution and Ecology - Fl (Jan, Feb, Apr, Jun), fr (Feb); common in non-flooded forest at 200 to 400 m, also found in marshy forest and in secondary vegetation.
