Species Description - Plants 2-4 mm high. Leaves plane, oblong or obovate, acute or somewhat acuminate; margins denticulate above, bordered b y 1-2 rows of linear cells; costa ending 3-6 cells below the apex. Setae about 7 mm long, yellowish-red; capsules globose-pyriform, with the neck shrunken when dry, up to the length of the urn; operculum flat; peristome rudimentary or lacking. Spores 20-25 µm, granulose.

On soil of banks or in crevices of outcropping rock; Chiapas, Hidalgo, Jalisco, Puebla.—Mexico; Guatemala and Costa Rica; West Indies; South America.
