Species Description - Hemiepiphytic climbers. Stems elongate, flexible, appearing woody, with thorn-like bud scales above each petiole, the internodes 1-4 cm X 3-5 mm, flattened-sulcate on one side. Leaves: petiole narrowly sulcate, 1-9 mm long; blade oblong to oblanceolate, acute to obtuse at base, 10-27 x 2-8 cm, drying blackened (juvenile leaf blades dark green and subvelvety above, matte below); midrib narrowly raised above (sunken on juvenile plants), narrowly raised and paler below, the primary lateral veins inconspicuous, barely more obvious than minor veins, etched above, flat below, the minor veins not visible, drying prominulous, the collective vein arising from base, close to margin. Infloresences with peduncle shorter than spadix; spathe to 8 cm long, ellipsoid to subglobose, greenish white abaxially, white adaxially; spadix 3.5-6 cm long, stipitate to 7 mm, white to pale greenish yellow, cylindroid, 4-5.5 X 1.3 cm. Flowers truncate at apex. Infructescences to 12 X 4 cm; berries orange, < 1 cm long. Fl (Dec-Mar, May), mature fr (Mar, May, Nov);

Widespread in French Guiana at 0 to 500 m, frequent in the understory of the canopy of mature forest.
