    Species Description - Epiphytic herbs. Roots grayish white. Stems <30 cm X 7-10 mm; cataphylls persisting intact, reddish brown. Leaves: petiole subterete, weakly sulcate, to 20 cm long; blade oblanceolate to nearly linear, moderately thin, 11-30 X 3.5-8 cm, epunctate. Inflorescences with peduncles 13-40 cm long, sometimes pendent and arched upward; spathe reddish violet, 1.3-2.5 cm long; spadix sessile, dark purple to purplish brown, to 6 cm long. Flowers 3 or fewer visible per spiral. Berries red, globose, 7 mm long. Fl and fr (year round); infrequent.
