    Species Description - Rhizomes short-creeping, thick, to 5 cm diam. (including base of petioles). Fronds 3—6; petiole canaliculate, to 70 cm long, without swollen nodes, covered with hastate, rust-colored scales of variable size and shape. Sterile fronds pinnate, with 9 pairs of opposite pinnae and one similar terminal pinna; pinnae elliptic, ca. 23 X 4 cm, the narrowed apex 20-25 mm long, dentate, the veins parallel, closely spaced, simple or 1-branched. Fertile fronds with 7-11 pairs of linear pinnae, 7-13 X 1-1.5 cm.
