Description - Plant flowering 6 dm high. Leaves rosulate, rigid, compressed; blades ligulate, abruptly acute, 6 dm long, 2-5 cm wide, spinulose, gray-green, white-banded. Scape 4 dm long, 8 mm in diameter, densely flocculose; scape-bracts lanceolate, 16-19 cm long, rose. Inflorescence simple, curved, many-flowered; rhachis straight, white-flocculose. Floral bracts ovate, acute, 8 mm long, membranaceous, rose; flowers sessile, 6-8 cm long. Sepals lance-ovate, acute, 12 mm long, green toward base, violet toward apex, flocculose; petals linear-lanceolate, acute, 5 cm long, 6 mm wide, blue, bearing 2 white scales at base; stamens 5 cm long, filaments pale blue, anthers filiform, 2 cm long, undulate; style 5 cm long, dark blue; ovary ovoid-conical, 12 mm long, trigonous, sulcate, white-flocculose; epigynous tube short, narrowed above ovary.
