    Species Description - Trunks to 50 X 5 cm. Fronds pinnate, 1.7 X 0.8 m, apex pinnatifid, abruptly reduced; petiole 1.3 m long, covered with spines 5 mm long and with sparse, lanceolate, bicolorous, fimbriate scales, the rachis often spiny, not winged; pinnae sessile, incised 2/3 distance to midrib, the margins dentate, the basal pinnae reduced and deflexed; veins with brown scales, the ultimate segments subfalcate, obtuse, the basal pair encircling rachis; veins simple to 3-branched. Sori in single line, inserted towards margin of ultimate segments; indusia present. Uncommon, in lowland forest.
